Classmate Lindy Lyter is seated in the iCommons Amphitheater
(across the fence from the Olde Yard in the background)
waiting for Don Smith's slide show to begin.
Classmate Don Smith will talk about his efforts to raise beef
cattle that are
healthier to eat and better for the planet.
We've tested the slide show feature – now we just need an
audience.
If you HAVE signed up for Second Life
and have already created an avatar,
here are the instructions:
Please note that Second
Life has a new "viewer" (Viewer 2.0) that
sets up
your screen slightly differently than the older
viewers did.
If you haven't been to the Olde
Yard before, a shortcut is to point your Web browser
to:
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/iCommons%202/112/100/25
Click on "Visit this location" in the Welcome box.
Then sign in when asked. You'll be taken to the
Yard.
You can speed the above process by
going to the location in advance
and creating a landmark there.
If you haven't yet signed up for
Second Life, go to
www.secondlife.com, join up
and follow the directions for creating your personal avatar.
When you have questions or run into
roadblocks, contact Frank White –
fwhite66@post.harvard.edu
or in the Second Life world, send an IM to Whitelight
Christiansen
Please note that you'll need a broadband
internet connection, a reasonable amount of
computer memory and a good graphics card for the best
experience.
A separate microphone or a headset with microphone helps
people hear you better,
but your computer's built-in mike will work.
